The first interactive Moomin storybook was officially announced today in a launch party at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. The iPad application is now available on the App Store. The first version is in Finnish, and different language versions are planned to be published soon.
Sophia Jansson, Chairman of the Board of the Moomin Characters, said it’s fantastic to have a chance to read Moomin stories in a totally new way. She was happy that the interactive storybook respects the original printed book and adds up to the story with beautifully animated interactions.
“Tove Jansson’s The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My was 60 years ahead of its time in 1952. Now the new iPad version will help Moomins stay on top of the development”, said Sophia Jansson.
Kimmo Alaniska, the CEO of Spinfy, said that they want to inspire children by making story times as exciting as possible. He was very pleased that with all the interactions kids want to hear the story – over and over again.
Lippo Luukkonen, publisher at WSOY, revealed during the launch party that there will be a total of five new interactive Moomin storybooks this year and they all should be available for iPad, iPhone and Android touch screen devices.
