The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My is now available in English on the App Store. First published in 1952 as a picture book, Spinfy has translated Tove Jansson’s Moomin classic into an interactive storybook. The Moomin book app has been released in English and in Finnish for iPad, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S. It will soon have Swedish, Norwegian and Danish language versions as well.

The English localization of the Moomin book app has been made together with Sort of Books, an independent publishing venture. Sophie Hannah has translated the playful rhyming text for the picture book, and the lively English narration comes from Samuel West, an English actor and a well-known Moomin enthusiast.

“Graphic artists have admired Tove Jansson’s marvelous cut-out page design for decades as the book shows a peek on what’s coming next through the clever holes on each page. We have held on to those same die-cuts that create the layered effect, but we wanted to take a step further with the smooth 3D page turn animation”, says Kimmo Alaniska, CEO at Spinfy. “I’m sure every Moomin fan will admit this is a beautiful classic turned into a modern day masterpiece.”

The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My is the first interactive Moomin storybook. Spinfy is now working on with totally new Moomin stories that will add up the number of Moomin book apps to four by the end of the year.
